The Extended Family is an ever-morphing, ever-growing poetic tribe. Our music has roots in punk, rock, cabaret, brass band, soul, and many other influences. Our sound has been compared to Siouxie & The Banshees crossed with PJ Harvey, Kate Bush, and Tom Waits. Come see us and judge for yourself. [Continued below]

The Extended Family (formerly Nanuchka) is led by Yula Be’eri (lead vox, guitar, bass, piano, everything, formerly of World/Inferno Friendship Society, Star Fucking Hipsters). The Extended Family includes Shahar Mintz, Steffano Baldasseroni (drums) Isaac Gardner (drums, theater), Sarah Zar (musical saw, art direction, web design), Kevin Taylor (accordion, trombone),Carter Yasutake of Midnight Magic and BCNC (Trumpet) Stefan Zenuik of Gato Loco (Sax, Clarinet)Kate Campbell (trumpet, keyboard, glockenspiel, filmmaking), Rob Ussin (trombone, gardening), and Daniel J Gerstle (bass, guitar, keyboard, photos, literature). At our concerts, we enjoy cameos by Roy Gurel (Electro Morocco, Nanuchka), Stefan Zeniuk (Gato Loco Coconino, New York Howl), Taylor Galassi (This Way to the Egress), Sarah Small (photography, Black Sea Hotel), Peter Hess (World Inferno), Scotty (Dolchnakov Brigade), Jason Yellen, and many more.
The Extended Family is based in the Brooklyn arts and music community, The Hive NYC. We enjoy the wisdom of Kriss Marchena (literature, management), Brian Baxter, (storytelling, producing, camera), Anton Antonovich (beekeeping), and so many great others.
